Fillmore County encourages you to learn about and test for nitrates if you have a private well.
- To learn more, see nitrate resources from the Minnesota Department of Health at https://www.health.state.mn.us/communities/environment/water/contaminants/nitrate.html.
- The only way to know the nitrate level of your private well is to test it. Initial no-cost nitrate screening of water is available from the Fillmore County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). Additional testing lab options may be found at https://eldo.web.health.state.mn.us/public/accreditedlabs/labsearch.seam
- If you use water from a community public water supply, these wells are already tested and results are available from https://mnccr.web.health.state.mn.us/index.faces
