In March 2020, the Federal CARES Act became law and thus made funds available to qualifying local, state and federal agencies to help cover expenses caused by responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. On September 8, 2020, the Fillmore County board of Commissioners approved the County's CARES Act Fund to be made available to non-profit organizations. These dollars will be in the form of an economic Development Relief grant of up to $10,000 maximum per eligible organization. The goal of this program is to assist organizations who were impacted monetarily by COVID-19 by helping to cover costs such as close of operations, limited business, shutdowns, loss of revenue and costs to continue operations while adhering to state and federal mandates and other critical expenses.
The grant application and related attachments will be considered public information. Any social security numbers, bank accounts, and/or date of birth information will be considered private data under MN Data Practices, Chapter 13.
Applications will be accepted starting September 16, 2020. Applications should be emailed to the Fillmore County Administrator, Bobbie Hillery, at firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped off at the Fillmore County Administrator's Office. Any questions can be directed to the Fillmore County EDA Director, Chris Hahn, by emailing email@example.com or to the Fillmore County Administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org; applicants can also call 507-765-4655 for more information.
The first round of applications will be reviewed by the Fillmore County EDA Board with a recommendation to the Fillmore County Board on October 6, 2020. After this date, the program may be reevaluated and possibly changed for a second round if funds remain.
The Fillmore County Board of Commissioners retains final authority to determine if a non-profit is eligible or not, and whether to approve a grant or not.
