Certificate of Location of Government Corners
ITS' THE LAW!!!
According to Minnesota State Statutes 381.12: A "Certificate of Location of Government Corner" must be prepared as part of any land survey which requires any Public Land Survey corner in order to do the survey if the corner does not have a certificate on file at the County Surveyors Office.
All recorded "Certificate of Location of Government Corners" can be viewed at the County Surveyors Office. KML files are provided below to display and view the corner certificates online. KML files can be displayed using GOOGLE, BENTLY, ESRI or MICROSOFT Software. GOOGLE EARTH software can be downloaded for free on the internet. If you do not have GOOGLE EARTH software installed the MNDOT website includes directions on how to download and install the free GOOGLE EARTH software.
To download information on where to obtain the "FREE" GOOGLE EARTH software and how to view the data please visit the MNDOT website address below.
New corner certificates are being prepared as section monuments are set or if the previous monument or reference ties have been destroyed. Also, HARN 1996 coordinates are being added to the previous certificates as they are located with GPS. Because these files are dynamic and are constantly being updated the user may need to download an updated version of the files as needed.
The following zip file can be download from this webpage. Click on the file below and choose SAVE. (Note: Please read the included README file prior to using the attached kml files)
WARNING: The coordinates in the KML internal file are only approximate and are used for mapping purposes only. Please see the corner certificate for accurate information.
If you need additional help using these files please feel free to contact the Fillmore County Surveyor by email.
