Family Home Visiting

Family Home Visiting is a voluntary, home-based service for prenatal and postpartum women and children. Family Home Visiting provides social, emotional, health-related and parenting support and information to families, and links them to appropriate resources. Trained Fillmore County Public Health staff offer a Growing Great Kids (GGK) curriculum as part of family home visiting. Growing Great Kids is an evidence-based program that addresses basic care, social and emotional development, cues and communication, physical and brain development, play and stimulation, and parental needs. 
Prenatal and postpartum visits are available to address client needs concerning:
  • Pregnancy, labor and delivery
  • Self-care
  • Nutrition
  • Postpartum depression
  • Coping and stress management skills
  • Role changes
  • Family planning
  • Environmental risks
  • Community resources
Visits for children and their families are available to address: 
  • Infant and child care
  • Infant and child nutrition
  • Child physical, social and emotional development
  • Newborn Screening Program recommendations
  • Parenting
  • Home safety
  • Community resources
