Fillmore County Public Health provides consultation and education regarding mold. Mold is a fungus that grows with moderate temperatures, nutrients, and moisture. Many molds can damage materials and affect human health. Exposure to mold may cause a cough, runny nose, wheezing and a sore throat. It is important to remove mold as soon as you see or smell it and make repairs to any high-moisture areas contributing to mold growth.
