Brett is a Minnesota native who grew up in Preston, MN. He is from a large family with six siblings. After graduating high school in 1980, he attended Luther College in Decorah, IA. Brett also has a Bachelor of Arts in English and History from Luther College where he played rugby, sang in the Oratorio Concert Choir and was active in college activities. He received his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, MN.
After 28 years of service, Lieutenant Colonel Brett A. Corson retired from the military. For part of his time at William Mitchell Law School, he was assigned to the judge advocate unit at Fort Snelling. In 2003, he deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and deployed again in 2007 to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and was Commander of the 214th Legal Operations Detachment at Fort Snelling, MN before retiring in January 2019.
After he graduated law school, Brett and his brother, Steven Corson, owned and operated Corson Law Offices for over seventeen years. Brett and his wife, Nancy moved to Wykoff, MN in 1990 where they raised their four children. Brett has been very involved in community organizations and served on numerous boards and committees. These include Emmanuel Lutheran Church Council, St. John's Lutheran Board of Education, Wykoff Lions Club, Preston VFW, Preston American Legion, Tenth Judicial Ethics Board and Wykoff Community Fast Pitch coach.
