Hazard Mitigation

HAZARD MITIGATION Means any action taken to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of human life and property form natural disasters. (FEMA publication 44CFR, Chapter 1,subpartM, SOURCE: 55fr35529, August 30, 1990).

All types of hazards, categorized as natural, technological, or human, are considered in this planning process. Mitigation projects are developed in response to the perceived risk of such hazards occurring based on historical occurrence and analysis.

What is the Hazard MitigationPlan?
