Community Services is the umbrella agency for Public Health, Human Services and Veteran Services. The department's primary objective is to ensure that all citizens will be safe and be able to meet their basic needs. To meet that objective, Community Services works with public and private agencies using best practices to promote self-sufficiency.
The primary groups we serve are: veterans, children, families and seniors; people who are eligible for veteran's benefits, have low incomes; are homeless; have developmental, mental or physical disabilities; and/or are chemically dependent.
We provide programs and services to meet food, health, nutrition and housing needs. We also offer child and adult protection; counseling; day care licensing; employment supports; foster care information; and other social services. Community Services collaborates with non-profit and contracted providers and other government organizations to provide some services.
